The Zetas Cartel in Guatemala is extremely dangerous and I have decided to research them prior to my visit to the northern jungle lands of Guatemala in a few weeks.
Below is a link to a photograph mapping out the regions where different cartels run the show in Guatemala.

  2. Interesting Post. The movement of the Zeta cartel into the Sinaloa cartel area is informative to travelers to stay away from the conflict areas. In the North Caucacus territory of Russia, the Muslim citizens feel the same pressure from the Russian Government. The Muslim citizens fought back using modern day terrorist tactics, attacking Russian infrastructure and usually targeting civilians. The questionable border is the hot bed for these attacks, and each side keeps pushing the attacks further from the border. Some areas are prone to attack, even if the city is far away from the North Caucasus Region (Like Sochi). I will discuss this and more in my blog:http://matthewjbird.weebly.com/

  3. Awesome blog concept. I'm writing a blog concerning safe travels in South America, focusing mainly on Columbia and Peru. While you are going to be writing about the drug cartels changing location and strengthening their presence in Guatemala, I will be writing about how drug cartels are moving out of Columbia and in to countries like Peru and Bolivia. I think that it will be really interesting how the cartels will continue to affect tourism in these regions.
